Mountaineering has remained to be one of the outdoor fun activities. However, it is not a sport for every person. It is a sport meant only for those who have the confidence to go to the peak of the mountain. It is for those who have the courage to go to that extent. Reaching the summit of the mountain is the highest achievement that a climber will ever have. It is worth reminding you that climbing mountains is not a matter of unlimited fun. It is a very risky sport and remains to be deadliest. As they try to climb mountains, many people have lost their lives due to collapsing and such other risks. Others have become disabled as a result of tragic accidents on the mountains. If you truly love mountain climbing, you don’t have a reason to fear nevertheless. If you are not an ardent mountain climber, then, you should not try to climb the following dangerous mountains on the earth.
Mont blank massif remains to be the deadliest mountain on the earth. It boasts of 15782 ft and is the tallest on the alpine range. The rock slides have been causing death of climber’s year in year out. It is the mountain with the highest number of fatalities with an average of 100 climbers per year. Since history, it has claimed lives of 6000 people. President Theodore Roosevelt climbed the mountain in 1886 which has made it very popular.
The second mountain on the list is the Annapurna. It has a height of above 26,246 ft. the Nepal Annapurna is the tallest peak that attracts climbers from everywhere. Since 1950, the mountain has been climbed successfully by 191 climbers. Sixty people have since died as they tried to reach the summit of Annapurna. For mountains with 8000 meters peak, it is considered as the most dangerous.
Another mount under focus is the K2 which is the second highest in the world. Its location is on the border of Pakistan and China and has height of 28,251 ft. Climbing Kilimanjaro is easy but not K2. Even when you choose the easiest route, you will face ice pillars that can collapse, steep rocks and complicated glaciers. The mount has a bad reputation for women climbers. Among the six female climbers that gave a trial to mount since 2003, five of them died.
Another mountain under this category is the Nanga Parbat which is known as the man eater. It has a height of 26657 ft and located in Pakistan. The mountain features an enormous range of ice and rock. It ranks as number nine in height in the world and has the tallest mountain face. As of 1953, it has claimed lives of 31 climbers.
